About the Georgian Sound Big Band

The Georgian Sound Big Band's mission is to provide musicians with the opportunity to share their love of music, to perform events for the benefit and enjoyment of our community, and to encourage young musicians to continue their interest in music and performance.

The Georgian Sound Big Band was formed in 1988 by Bob Cringan. This enthusiastic band presents a wide variety of danceable music including waltz, tango, and Latin rhythms using many of Bob's fine arrangements. Under the leadership of trumpeter Don Doner and conducted by trombonist Brad Crawford, the Band now swings to favourites from the big band era to the present decade, much to the delight of an expanding audience.

Lisa Hutchinson - Lead Vocalalist

She has studied at jazz workshops with Dave Restivo, Pat Labarbera and Nancy Walker at Humber College and the Ottawa area's summer jazz music program - Jazzworks. Lisa has had the honour of performing with Norman Amadio, Bernie Senensky and Joe Huron. She looks forward to seeing all the Jazzmania 'regulars' and meeting new-comers at this year's festival!
